1. Why Spanish immersion?
Having proficiency in more than one language has been shown to enhance a child's overall verbal development, heighten creativity, as well as improve cognitive performance in overall basic skills necessary for elementary school. Jardín de Niños believes in providing diverse, multicultural experiences to cultivate openness and an appreciation for different cultures. We believe this prepares children to successfully maneuver in a multilingual and multicultural world.
2. Does my child need to know some Spanish before enrolling?
No, it is not necessary for your child to have any Spanish language skills prior to enrollment.
3. What if we don't speak Spanish at home?
More than two-thirds of the children enrolled at Jardín de Niños do not speak Spanish at home. Students have ample time and activities available at school to learn the Spanish language.
4. If my child transfers to public school after attending Jardín de Niños, will he or she be behind, ahead or on target with other children their age?
Your child will be ahead of or on target with other children their age. Jardín de Niños integrates Austin Independent School District standards with our curriculum. The difference is the level of depth a subject or theme is covered. We cover themes in depth over the course of six to eight weeks. While an average public school may cover the theme in just one lesson.
5. At what age can my child apply?
We accept children as young as 6 weeks and up to fourth grade.
6. How much is tuition?
Jardín de Niños believes that choosing the right school for your child should not be cost prohibitive. We offer highly competitive rates that vary by age and schedule. Day care tuition is $511-$1085 per month and elementary school $930 month. After school care is available for an additional charge.
7. What extra-curricular activities are offered?
We offer soccer, ballet, tennis, piano lessons and we continue to seek out programming that may be of interest to our students.
8. Do you have summer programs?
Yes, Jardín de Niños offers an 11/12-week summer camp program. You may choose as many weeks as you want, with a minimum of three weeks. Whether your child is unable to speak Spanish or is very fluent in Spanish, they will enhance their language skills with exciting, entertaining and life enhancing adventures through Spanish immersion.
9. How does registration work?
Jardín de Niños encourages parents and children join us for a tour. To enroll for school, parents will be asked to fill out paperwork and provide a deposit to hold a space for their child.
10. Can my child begin in the middle of the school year?
All ages, including primary school students, may enroll and begin attending Jardín de Niños any time throughout the year.
